THOMAS A. STROHMETZ focuses his practice on workers’ compensation. Mr. Strohmetz has successfully defended workers’ compensation matters on behalf of insurance carriers, excess insurance carriers, and self-insured employers, including transportation agencies, trucking companies, national retailers, staffing companies, supermarkets, family owned businesses, and restaurant chains.  The matters have included claims for orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, traumatic brain injuries, occupational exposure, neuro-psychological disorders, pulmonary conditions, and psychological claims.

Mr. Strohmetz is committed to obtaining the best possible results for his clients, whether that means settling a minor claim early in litigation to save the client’s time and expense or whether it requires pursuing a matter to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.  In 2002 Mr. Strohmetz founded Chartwell with three attorneys in one office in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and has since ensured the closure of over 800 claims for his clients.  He has been successful in recovering millions for his clients in Supersedeas Fund Reimbursement, and he has also saved his clients millions by creative and effective litigation practices.

Mr. Strohmetz has successfully handled many representative matters. He successfully obtained a suspension of claimant’s wage loss benefits for a large self-insured employer by establishing that the claimant was totally disabled due a non-work-related condition; he secured early dismissal of a claimant’s Review and Reinstatement Petitions based on the legal principles of res judicata and collateral estoppel without incurring the expense associated with protracted litigation and costly medical expert depositions; he settled case for just 3 months of wage loss benefits, with no admission of liability, and no payment of any medicals, in a matter that involved surgery; he settled case for just seven months of wage loss benefits, with no admission of liability, on a case involving surgeries to multiple body parts, while saving our client the expense associated with protracted litigation and costly expert deposition testimony; and he secured withdrawal of Claim Petition by claimant’s counsel and the claim in its entirety, with no money paid by defendant, due to assertive litigation approach involving presentation of surveillance evidence at first hearing thereby convincing claimant’s counsel to withdraw the Claim Petition and his representation of the claimant.

Outside of the law firm, Mr. Strohmetz has served as a Den Leader for the Malvern Pack 7 of the Cub Scouts from 2007-2017. He has also earned a 2nd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate.
