MEGAN L. DOUGHERTY focuses her practice on workers’ compensation and has worked with many self-insured clients, carriers and TPAs. She has experience handling workers’ compensation matters for numerous employers with a focus on defending matters for construction companies and hospitals. In addition, Ms. Dougherty makes sure to maintain constant contact with employers, brokers and adjusters to utilize a team approach for handling matters.

Ms. Dougherty helps her clients through aggressive and responsive representation. She helps her clients by learning about their goals and using that knowledge to make effective and well-informed decisions. Ms. Dougherty does everything possible to succeed, whether that means settling a case and avoiding unnecessary litigation costs or taking a matter to decision. She treats her clients’ money as if it was her own and works to close out several files per year by using her persistent communication skills with all parties and conducting rigorous work to reduce any ongoing exposure.

Ms. Dougherty was the first, and youngest, non-equity partner, and one of the first female equity partners at Chartwell Law. She is a member of the Young Trial Lawyers of America and the Pennsylvania & American Bar Associations.  She served as the 2015 Co-Chair for the Philadelphia Workers’ Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. In her role as Co-Chair, Ms. Dougherty has been a contributing author for The Philadelphia Lawyer and the Philadelphia Bar Reporter.  Moreover, Ms. Dougherty is a frequent contributor to the Workers’ Compensation Section CLE program.

Ms. Dougherty has presented to various clients about Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Law, including the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Bureau Conference. She has also presented, and served as a panel member, at the Bench Bar Conference in 2015, on reducing medical exposure in cases.  

Ms. Dougherty is dedicated to maintaining the integrity and success of Chartwell and its’ clients, as well as to her husband and two children.
